Background[]
While searching the cave where Bobby had hidden his rabid dog Rex despite his warning, Jackie ran into the beast and was forced to flee further inside to save herself. As a day passed, the worried Highpool residents decided to search for her. Coincidentally, the Desert Rangers showed up in town while investigating the recent disturbances in the wastes.

She can be found trapped in the nearby cave and may be recruited by the player. You will need to climb the boulders after dealing with Rex in his Spiked Mut/Rabid Dog form. Despite her low stats, Jackie is often the first recruitable NPC encountered by the player. Thus, she may be useful early-game as an equipment mule or damage dealer/absorber, otherwise you should dismiss her instantly after recruiting.
Ironically, the only known time you need a match in the game is just before you encounter her, although it is rumored that you can get more loot in the Agricultural Center cave by using a match upon entering.
